  • Roger Whysall


    In 1967 Roger graduated from the University of Nottingham with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He joined Rolls Royce at Shrewsbury and then in 1977 Hunting Engineering Limited where he later became Production Director.  On the acquisition of Irving Aerospace by Hunting Roger was appointed as the group Managing Director responsible for locations in the USA, Canada, Italy and the UK.

    Roger is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and in 1998 he became a Director of Hunting plc, Chief Executive of Hunting Defence and Chairman of Hunting Contract Services and Hunting Technical Support. He was Chairman of Bedford Technical College for five years until 2013 and is currently the Chairman of Pera International.

  • Peter Hughes

    Deputy Chairman

    Peter was appointed as a non-executive director in 2007 and Deputy Chairman in 2017.  His career includes being Managing Director of Powergen International between 1992 and 2001.  During this time he developed an organisational and management structure to deliver the construction, acquisition, operation and management of leading power generators and supplier companies, world-wide.

    In 2003 Peter co-founded a wind farm development and raised capital in the private equity market and is also developing a number of UK on-shore projects.  Peter brings to Pera a background in strategic planning, operational risk management and high level government interaction.

  • Max Lewis

    Non-executive Director

    Max earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he graduated Valedictorian of the College of Engineering and Technology.   Max also holds an MBA degree from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma

    Max was appointed Vice President – Global Innovation for The Sherwin-Williams Company in January 2008.  Previous to this assignment, he was Vice President – R&D for the Paint & Coatings Division.  Currently, Max is focused on coordinating the research & development, manufacturing technology, and technical service functions supporting the Latin America Group’s 5 operating divisions. He has over 34 years of industrial experience, having held a variety of positions in marketing, engineering, R&D, and manufacturing support.

    Max is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and is a Registered Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Oklahoma.  He served as President of the Board of Directors of PRA International located in London, UK until its merger with Pera in 2009.  He is currently a member of the Advancement Council for the College of Business at the University of Akron, and also serves on the Board of Directors of the Industrial Research Institute (IRI) in the United States.

  • Lorraine Gibson

    Company Secretary

    Lorraine has enjoyed much of her career in the law, starting as a junior and working up to a litigation fee earner. During her time at Owstons Solicitors in Leicester she assisted the Joint Diocesan Registrar working for the Bishop of Leicester handling the faculty system for all the Church properties in the county of Leicestershire as well as the issuing of Special Marriage Licences.

    Lorraine joined Pera in 2003 working mainly for the Technology division. In 2007 she was appointed PA to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Following the management buy-out in 2012 Lorraine was appointed Company Secretary for Pera International and its subsidiaries.

  • Peter Davies CBE

    General Manager

    Peter was the CEO of the Pera Group from 2000 to 2008. Previously he was for ten years the director of an automotive advanced technology centre. In the early 1980s he worked in the Cabinet Office and the Prime Minister’s Office as a member of a policy think-tank and as the Principle Adviser to the Government Chief Scientist.

    In 2008 he established The Pera Foundation, dedicated to giving life-changing opportunities to disaffected and disadvantaged young people through the power of entrepreneurship and enterprise.

    He was made a CBE in 2003 for services to business innovation. He has a PhD and BSc in physics and an Honorary Doctorate from Loughborough University. His current part-time appointments include being the Customer Guardian for a financial services company, the Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Innovation at Loughborough University, and a Distinguished Visitor to the University of Cambridge Institute of Manufacturing. He regularly mentors start-up businesses.
